Ramie Fibre (Boehmeria nivea) dyed with Coconut Fibre (Cocos nucifera)

Coiling on wire and yarn

The word Fossiliz stands for “Fossilization” it is the process of a once living organism becoming a fossil. This Fossilization is a very rare process: of all the organisms that have lived on Earth, only a tiny percentage of them ever become fossils. This work wants to show the beauty of fossilization which can have an organic and unexpected structure. Made from scoured and bleached ramie fibers as the main material and dyed using coconut fibre as natural colorant.
