Pineapple fibers, Indigofera, liquid latex

Interlock

This craft project is inspired by art deco, the predominant decorative art style of the 1920s and 1930s, characterized by precise and boldly delineated geometric shapes and strong colors and used most notably in household objects and in architecture. When we look in more detail, the visual element is actually formed by lines. Lines can be a symbol of emotional expression. Lines can give several impressions to the observer, sometimes soft, lively, supple, sweet, and strong. Through lines, we can find fields, spaces, or other elements. This craft project tries to develop the line structure from pineapple filament fiber and uses indigo dye as a natural dye that has its characteristic blue color. The processing of the pineapple fiber is formed into modules by nonwoven technique with an additional material, namely liquid latex. Each module is united by the interlocking technique to finally form a textile.
